I greatly miss Hale and Hearty soups after going across the river, so whenever Sage has Cheddar Broccoli I make sure to get it.

Chop't Salad!
When I first was getting into lunch salads- I was against chopped salads. Too watery, not enough crunch. Just Salad changed my opinion. Just Salad isn't immediately around but Chop't is, and it rivals.

Sage Sandwich Mix Up!
I originally ordered the special LIC Avocado and Grilled Steak Sandwich lettuce and tomato with sriracha sauce on ciabatta and accidently received the Texas Cowboy Steak with caramelized onion, watercress and chipotle mayo on flatbread that I have been afraid of trying instead. I bit into it before realizing there were no avocados and what a wonderful surprise- I loved it! Sorry for the terrible photos- I guess I was too distracted by the awesomeness. I've been afraid of trying it because of the steak-which can really be hit or miss. I think the sauce and the watercress really make the sandwich.

Brick Oven Pizza in Long Island City
This is the second time ordering from Bella Via for lunch. I ordered the small Arugula and Prosciutto di Parma pizza. I made sure I have a tupperware to store the extra to bring home for M- who loves brick oven pizza. The first pie I ordered a few months ago was a plain pie, so I decided to mix it up for the second visit. Just as good as Grimaldi's!

Date night: Geisha
I bookmarked Geisha one day after researching the top sushi restaurants in NYC.
I'm not sure the exact name of this drink, but it was under molecular drinks where they used science to create them? I think the only "science" was the rose petals in the drink but it was a good and interesting cocktail.
I will always order Grilled Shishito Peppers if they are on the menu. They are so delicious. Some are super spicy, some can even be sweet. I really wish I could find some at a grocery store to make at home.
We ordered some fried rice as a side. Very spicy, very tasty.
I ordered the White Tuna Crunch Roll minus the asparagus and it was pretty good. I think the only thing that would make it better would be salmon instead of tuna.
I probably should have just ordered two White Tuna Crunch Rolls- the Salmon Avocado roll was swimming in sesame seeds that really just ruined the entire roll.
All in all, I don't think it was any better than Wild Ginger in Hoboken, NJ- so we probably won't go back unless in the area and in need of a lounge for good cocktails.

Brunch at Bin 14 in Hoboken
I really was feeling a wine bar on Saturday night but Bin 14 in Hoboken, NJ was booked. I still had the urge to go, so we went for brunch on Sunday- even though we weren't going to get wine. We had went a couple of months ago and thought it was delicious, but I was not as impressed on this visit.
First, we ordered freshly squeezed OJ. It was good because there was no pulp, and bad because it was served warm. I put some ice cubes from my water in it after this picture.
M and I are big fans of bruschetta. We had ordered the Roasted pumpkin and ricotta, balsamic reduction the last time we went to Bin 14, and I remember it being quite good. However, this one tasted very bad. Maybe it was because the pumpkin/ricotta was too cold to have much flavor. Not sure but I don't think I will be trying it again.
The best thing we ordered were the Truffle fries and pecorino. So delicious that we didn't want it to end.
M ordered the Rabe, roasted tomatoes and mozzarella omelet. I stole a bite and it was perfectly moist. I don't even like rabe but it tasted good in the omelet. Both of our dishes came with a piece of toasted bread- which was delicious, and potatoes-which were not very good, kind of like slow cooker stew potatoes.
I ordered the Black Olive, goat cheese, roasted peppers frittata. You can see that it is quiche shaped. I found it a bit funny that they flipped over the burnt piece so that I would not see how ugly it was. I found the outside of the frittata to have a dried out layer, much like the dried out thin crust on the pan that forms when one fries eyes. I wasn't a fan of this and definitely would not order any other frittata here again.
So I don't think we will be heading here for brunch in the near future, but it is still on my list for a glass of wine and maybe those truffle fries one night.

Jackson Avenue Sandwich
Sage General Store is pretty much my favorite work lunch spot. I decided on their special sandwich, the Jackson Avenue Grilled Chicken with balsamic vinaigrette, roasted red peppers, blue cheese, watercress on a fresh baked baguette. SO GOOD! I'm not the biggest fan of blue cheese but it all worked together very well. I like that they toasted it a bit and that the bread was perfect.
